I never had to 'create a new fusion clip' to add vfx elements in DR 16.

after much testing, I found the following works: I tried with previous projects and with new projects and found that my previous workflow: Go to fusion tab to work from timeline clips OR right click in edit tab media pool and add. I go back to the edit screen and put the vfx element on the timeline and it displays properly, however in the fusion tab it does not. Fusion can be used to add graphics, text, effects, compositing, etc. In this video I will go over the basics to navigating, using, and understanding the fusion tab in DaVinci Resolve. Switch to the Fusion workspace by clicking the correct icon in the bottom panel. Make sure the clip you want to edit is selected and your playhead is over it. however all previous vfx elements that were added this way work perfectly, only new ones. I loaded up my video in DR 17, and noticed I missed a visual element, so I did the same as before, selected the clip, clicked fusion and when I added my elements from my vfx library, and connected via a merge node, my vfx element is not visible in my media out.

While working with DR 16, when I wanted to add some VFX to a clip, I would select the clip, click the fusion button at the bottom of the screen, and then add my VFX elements (gunshots, smoke, fire, etc), and everything would be displayed properly. Press Alt + v (or right click and click on Paste Attributes). Then select all the required clips either by ctrl+clicking them or drawing a box around them. Click on the clip in the timeline and copy the settings by pressing Ctrl + c (or Cmd + c).

Full List of Free and Paid Built-in “Open FX” Effects in DaVinci Resolve if i go to fusion tab and set lut to FUSION VIEW LUT and change gamma to 2,2 it displays correctly but ONLY in the fusion tab. davinci resolve is EXTREMELY DARK and gives me no way to set gamma. Also, note that you can access the “Open FX” from the “ Color” page as well. my 3ds max render is exported at gamma 2,2. Similarly, clicking on the “ Open FX” reveals the built-in Resolve’s Effects and any third-party effects you have installed in your system.
